Wat voor fotograaf ben jij?

Op pad….

Wanneer fotograferen jullie? Gaan jullie voorbereid op pad, of altijd op geluk?

Ik zelf beide, eigenlijk ga ik nooit op pad zonder camera, want je weet nooit….er kan zomaar een moment voordoen, dat je achteraf bedenkt….wauw gelukkig had ik mijn camera bij me.

Enig nadeel, je sleept soms een hele dag met je attributen voor niets, dat kan….ach als dat het enige nadeel is, vind ik het niet erg.

Het is veel zuurder als je een onwijs gaaf fotomoment mist, omdat je geen camera bij de hand had, hahaha. Verslaafd? Euh, ik denk het wel, wel in positieve zin. Ik leg graag mooie momenten vast om ze later nog eens terug te zien en weer opnieuw te genieten van dit mooie moment en ik laat ze graag aan andere zien, zodat deze mee kunnen genieten. Sinds kort ben ik ook erg actief op Instagram. (want ik verveelde me dagelijks…NOT..ik kwam al uren te kort op een dag…nou door een redelijk strakke planning heb ik nog steeds dit probleem haha, dit terzijde). Op Instagram vindt je nog meer van deze fotograaf fanaten, die er op uit trekken of die ook niet zonder hun camera weg kunnen, natuurliefhebbers en genieters, die echt van iets kleins onwijs kunnen genieten, dit vastleggen, zodat wij weer mee kunnen genieten. Geweldig!!

Ik dus, ga niet graag op pad zonder camera. Uiteraard is niet altijd de gelegenheid ervoor en dan heb ik minimaal mijn kleine camera bij, oftewel mijn telefoon. Het is ook verschrikkelijk handig dat je hiermee kan bellen en kan uploaden naar Instagram, alleen een telefoon zonder degelijke camera….nee dat kan echt niet!

Toch zijn er ook momenten dat ik echt voorbereid op pad ga, denk hierbij bv aan de zonsondergang of opkomst momenten, of de ‘blue hour’ momenten, of wanneer ik surfers ga fotograferen. Dit zijn de momenten dat ik me echt voorbereid, dubbel check of ik alles bij heb, ik ga bewust naar een bepaalde plek toe. Ik kom daar echt om te fotograferen en haal zoveel mogelijk uit deze momenten. Ik let op de weersomstandigheden, mijn attributen wat wel mee wat niet mee en ik ga dan ook voor een bepaald doel. Daarmee bedoel ik, wanneer ik kite-surfers ga fotograferen, dan laat ik me niet afleiden door loslopende honden, of meeuwen die over me heen vliegen en echt wel de aandacht trekken om deze op de foto te nemen. Nee, ik laat me dan niet afleiden, ik kom voor de kite-surfers, die ga ik fotograferen. Dit kan ook gewoon een moment in de tuin zijn, want wanneer ik weet dat er veel hommels en bijen in de tuin zijn, richt ik me volledig hierop. Of wanneer ik merk dat er frequent een winterkoning in onze tuin zit of een andere vogel, dan bereid ik me hierop voor.

Betreft de surfers, mijn broer waarschuwt mij wanneer hij gaat surfen (windsurfen) en sinds kort waarschuwt een kite-surfer wanneer hij met zijn vriendin naar de Maasvlakte gaat, zodat wanneer we kunnen dan kunnen inplannen om kiters te gaan fotograferen. Echt super tof dat ze dit doen! Dit scheelt weer een heleboel in de voorbereiding en indeling qua tijd. Wanneer ik voorbereid ga fotograferen schiet ik over het algemeen heel veel foto’s, waarvan ik op een later tijdstip deze ga uitzoeken. Welke zijn goed genoeg om te behouden, welke kunnen direct weg. Hierna volgt nog eens zo uitzoeksessie en vaak nog wel een paar x. Want soms is een foto misschien niet kwalitatief genoeg voor bv een uitvergroting of een afdruk, maar wel weer leuk genoeg om iets creatiefs mee te doen. Zo maakte ik vorig jaar een fotosessie van zesjarige die zich uitleefde in een gymzaal met een kinderpartijtje. Niet alle foto’s zijn afdruk waardig, toch zijn ze te leuk om weg te gooien. We maken er een dvd van, zodat ze nog terug te zien zijn als geheel. Als aandenken van dit leuke kinderpartijtje.

Hier vindt je een collage van een kite surfer die een super gave sprong maakt, ik schoot deze met de functie op mijn camera aantal foto’s achtereen. Wanneer deze redelijk gelukt zijn, zijn deze foto’s echt bruikbaar voor zo’n creatie. Kortom zoals vele fotografen weten, is fotografie best tijdrovend, tegelijkertijd ook een erg leuke hobby!

On the road….

When do you photograph? Are you prepared for the road, or always for happiness?

I myself both, actually I never go on the road without a camera, because you never know ... .there can be a moment that you think of afterwards ... .went lucky I had my camera with me.

One disadvantage, you sometimes drag a whole day with your attributes for nothing, that can ... .ach if that is the only drawback, I do not mind.

It is much more acidic if you miss an incredibly cool photo opportunity, because you did not have a camera at hand, hahaha. Addicted? Euh, I think so, but in a positive way. I like to capture beautiful moments to see them again later and to enjoy this beautiful moment again and I like to show them to others so that they can enjoy it. Recently I am also very active on Instagram. (because I was bored every day ... NOT .. I was already short for hours in a day ... well by a fairly tight schedule I still have this problem haha, this aside). On Instagram you will find even more of these photographer fanatics, who go out or who can’t leave without their camera, nature lovers and connoisseurs, who really enjoy something small, can capture this, so that we can enjoy it again. Awesome!!

So I do not like to go out without a camera. Of course is not always the opportunity for it and then I have at least my small camera, or my phone. It is also very handy that you can call and upload to Instagram, only a phone without a decent camera ... .nee that really can’t!

Yet there are also times when I really get prepared, think of the sunset or sunrise moments, or the 'blue hour' moments, or when I am going to photograph surfers. These are the moments that I really prepare, double check if I have everything, I consciously go to a certain place. I really come there to photograph and get as many out of these moments as possible. I pay attention to the weather conditions, my attributes what does not count and I go for a certain purpose. By that I mean, when I go photographing kite surfers, I do not let myself be distracted by stray dogs, or gulls that fly over me and really attract the attention to take them in the picture. No, I will not let myself be distracted, I come for the kite surfers, I will photograph them. This can also be just a moment in the garden, because when I know that there are a lot of bumblebees and bees in the garden, I fully focus on this. Or when I notice that there is often a winter king in our garden or another bird, then I prepare for this.

Concerns the surfers, my brother warns me when he goes surfing (windsurfing) and recently a kite surfer warns when he goes with his girlfriend to the Maasvlakte, so that when we can then we can plan to photograph kiters. Really super cool that they do this! This saves a lot in the preparation and division of time. When I'm ready to take pictures, I generally shoot a lot of photos, of which I'm going to sort these out at a later date. Which are good enough to keep, which can immediately go. This is followed by another search session and often a few times. Because sometimes a photo may not be of sufficient quality, for example an enlargement or a print, but again nice enough to do something creative. For example, last year I made a photo session of a six-year-old who spent time in a gym with a children's party. Not all photos are worthy of print, yet they are too fun to throw away. We make a DVD of it, so that they can still be seen as a whole. As a souvenir of this fun children's party.

Here you will find a collage of a kite surfer that makes a super cool jump, I shot it with the function on my camera number of photos in a row. When these are reasonably successful, these photos are really usable for such a creation. In short, as many photographers know, photography is quite time-consuming, at the same time also a very nice hobby!
